Infinite hope! Yes! This is the wavelength, sometimes hard to float here. Bask in the moments when it’s possible. Love your way of connecting hope to moving your body in groups.
From my cross-country days in high school, I remember moving your arms while running should be like pumping your engine—connecting to your core. I’d pump my arms faster if I wanted to run faster.
What I appreciate here and what has stayed with me is the vision of joyful group activities as a response to the political moment and the need for safety.
What a gift to find this in my inbox. I've lived in South Mpls most of my life; ten days ago ICE showed up in our neighborhood and neighbors turned out to tell them to go away. The museum I work at here is opening its first solo show by a Black artist this week, and it's first Drag Brunch today. Small steps, certainly grounded in 2020, but also in all the work this community and many others were doing well before we lost Floyd. There's so much scary stuff out there and so much to do, but something about this spring has been giving me so many feelings of tenderness, belonging, and joy in this community and i'm so here for it.
i LOVE this! running through the streets of DC with my black and brown run club I could not relate harder! its inspiring, its beautiful, its community -- the most important thing in the world ✨
Reading this reminded me to move through my despair, as I have been struggling to balance joy amongst while watching the horrors of the world. I got to attend a really beautiful experimental sound festival called Cluster last weekend and that grounded me so much!
Two comedies on Tubi are currently bringing me joy: “Grand Crew,” about a group of Black friends living in LA who bond over their romantic lives and other shenanigans at their favorite wine bar; and “Z-Suite” about a trio of Gen Zers who get promoted from lowly social media team to the C-Suite with hilarious results.

I passed my qualifying exam for my musicology Ph.D.!
Loved this piece and all the highlights amid a difficult time - and Queen Doechii’s speech was everything 💗
Everything you mentioned brings me joy. Also, still riding the deep high from taking my daughter to see Beyoncé a few weeks ago in Chicago.
that'll do it!
"it is not a political act to live in despair." thank you and your friend for this.
